Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a difficult year, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five games to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to create a third set.

The opponent rescued four early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
